Jany

Perhaps we were sisters
in ancient Greece
Comrades sharing
a barren existence
in every Parisian garret
(You the striving artist
I the tortured poet)
Or lost souls
needing another life
among those who
must search for answers.
Happening upon each other
again
Bound by time
Imprisoned by roles
Enlightened women in a dark age
Ruled by reactionaries
Ridiculed by fanatics
Abandoned by simple truths.
